New York Personal Injury Lawyer from The Perecman Firm Comments on Reports of Numerous Elevator Violations in Building Where Ad Executive Died in Elevator Accident

New York personal injury lawyer David Perecman comments on New York City Department of Buildings records showing multiple elevator problems at the office building where an ad executive was crushed in a December New York elevator accident.

NEW YORK, NY, January 21, 2012 /United States PR News/ -- A newly released Buildings Department report shows there were numerous elevator violations at the office building where an advertising executive was crushed in a Manhattan, New York elevator accident on December 14.

According to the New York Post (1/12/2012), city inspectors cited 11 violations against 13 of the building's elevators immediately after the fatal New York elevator accident.

"Safety must be the first priority in a city as reliant on elevators as New York," personal injury lawyer, David Perecman, founder of The Perecman Firm, one of New York's personal injury law firms, said. "When corners are cut to save time or money, innocent people can end up paying the price through no fault of their own."

The elevator involved in the fatal elevator accident in New York had been cited for lacking a "certificate of compliance," reported the NYP. However, other elevators had more serious problems.

The New York Post said, one elevator's cable was not lined up with a groove on a pulley that moves the cable. Other violations included, the use of nails instead of cotter pins "on shackles meant to hold heavy elevator car counterweights in place," and improperly attached cable clamps.

"Negligence of proper maintenance and repairs of elevators are contributing factors in a number of elevator injury accidents and deaths," said New York personal injury lawyer Perecman.

New York personal injury lawyer Perecman has represented the victims of New York area elevator accidents for over 30 years.
