Alvin Restaurant Group's Gordon Street Tavern Now Open
Classic American Pub Offers Extensive Pub Menu, 30 Beers on Tap
BELLAIRE, TX, February 01, 2012 /United States PR News/ -- Alvin Restaurant Group, owners of the award-winning Barbed Rose Restaurant, announces the opening its newest venue, Gordon Street Tavern, a classic American pub located at 114 Gordon Street. Originally built in the 1930s as a pharmacy, the space was transformed by Kathy Heard Design, complete with 10 big screen TVs, a 15-seat shotgun bar, 30 free pouring craft beers and 50 plus bottled. Jason Chaney, executive chef and Alvin Restaurant Group partner, created the menu.
"In designing Gordon Street Tavern, we wanted to honor the history of the building, as well as the city of Alvin," said General Manager and Partner Patrick Burford. Black and white photomurals evoking old Alvin grace the walls. Antiqued and etched mirrors line the back of the bar, another, arched, serves as a menu and focal point on the back wall. Light fixtures over the bar were created from cut and etched liquor bottles. The copper surround beneath the bar and at the beer wall will weather with time to create an antiqued patina. The restaurant seats 75. A forthcoming terrace adjoins the building on the North side to provide patio seating.
"Gordon Street Tavern offers everything you would want in a pub menu ... and more," says Chaney. "Wings, fish 'n' chips, Frito pie, burgers, you name it." Already the Scotch Eggs, a British favorite of hardboiled eggs coated with pork sausage and deep-fried, are a favorite. For dessert, homemade cookies and deep-fried twinkies top the list.
Hours are 11am - midnight Monday thru Thursday, 11am - 2am Friday and Saturday and 11am - 10 pm Sunday. Happy Hours ($1 off beers and cocktails) are Monday thru Saturday 3pm - 7pm and all day Sunday.
